I don’t usually respond to posts like this but it has come to my attention that once again people are jumping to conclusions and I have no choice but to say something before shit hits the fan in YG Fandom.

First of all: I have read the full YG friends notice on the official Blackjack zone so I am not making any assumptions or going by anything anyone else says. I am going based on what I’ve read in the Blackjack zone and also my experience as a Blackjack in Korea and attending events here.

I am going to sum up everything I want to say in one sentence: YG Friends will NOT be replacing fandoms. YG Friends is basically just the equivalent of YG fan staff.

For those of you who are curious about what fan staff really do, they basically attend events not to watch them or for their own enjoyment, but to help organize fans, guide them where to go, check that those who are attending are official members/own a copy of the cd, manage queues and answer questions for their fans. When YG stated that the Live Staff must be able to attend 90% of events, it meant that they must be able to attend to help manage the other fans that show up to these events. The YG fan staff are extremely important: their role is to help guide and direct people on the scene, encourage people to shout loudly and cheer for their group. They also occasionally help run events on scene, and help take presents to give to the members (no they will not be handing it to the members directly, they take them to pass onto other YG staff), etc. This is the role of fan staff. 

YG Friends is simply YG’s way of organizing all their fan staff to ensure consistency and organization. Moreover, if say a fan staff for 2NE1 is unable to attend one day for a 2NE1 event, another YG Friend will be able to take their role. It is likely that YG Friends will be distributed according to their own fandom. In the application you are asked to write down which fandoms you are currently apart of and which fandoms in YG you are the biggest fan of as well. 

YG FRIENDS IS NOTHING NEW. Every entertainment company has fan staff. Just because they give it a fancy name doesn’t mean anything new. 

It is not true that in order to watch Big Bang or 2NE1 you have to be a YG Friend. YG is only taking like 30-40 people in total for YG friends. Do you really think YG would cut off their huge source of income and loyal fan base down to 40 people on a whim? Again, YG Friends are only hired to help manage fans on the day of events to help them by telling them where to go, when to show up, etc. Big Bang, 2NE1, Se7en, etc. will still have their own fan clubs (lmao the fact that someone even suggested that they would combine all fandoms.. ide) The only conclusion I can draw to why the kVIP fanclub president (??? i didn’t know yg fan clubs had presidents loool blackjacks sure don’t..) was angry was because the YG Friends application prevents current staff from applying again.

Anyway, to drill in the point, YG Friends will not negatively impact the fandoms in any way. You will still have your own fan clubs, you will still be able to sign up and go to events (if you’re in Korea), and no there will not be one gigantic YG fandom overlord that forces you to cheer on the YG rookies. Calm yourselves. YG trolls but YG isn’t stupid.
